Gameweek 8 Transfer Tips

⚽Gameweek 8 Transfer Tips⚽

For My 2nd blog post, I will be taking you through my top transfer tips ahead of gameweek 8 to help you score highly and improve your ranking.

Nick Woltemade looks a great transfer ahead of gameweek 8 with the German striker facing off against Brighton who has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their fixtures so far this season. Woltemade also comes off the back of a relatively successful International break where he scored one goal and helped Germany win both of their fixtures as they retained the top spot in their World Cup qualifying group. With 3 goals in his first 4 premier league games, it seems as though the switch from the Bundesliga has been a breeze for the striker and I expect this form to continue with Newcastle's next 3 fixtures being on the easier side. For me, Nick is a strong differential pick, with only 12.2% ownership and he will always be a huge set piece threat for the toon army. ⚫⚪

Bukayo Saka seeks to be finding his feet following a disrupted start to the season due to tweaking his hamstring in Arsenal's 5-0 victory against Leeds earlier in gameweek 2. He managed to convert a penalty last time out against West Ham which was his first goal since that very game. With any doubt of him being stripped from penalty duties since the arrival of Victor Gyokeres being removed, Bukayo is a great pick for this week, coming up against Fulham who have only kept one clean sheet in their last 5 matches. With Arsenal being so defensively solid too, there is always a good chance that Saka will be credited with bonus points for clean sheets. With favourable fixtures and a point to prove that he is still Arsenal's main man, he would make for a great pick.🔴⚪

Enzo Fernandez has had a phenomenal beginning to the campaign and he is finally starting to gain some recognition for his contributions, with his ownership percentage increasing. Especially with Cole Palmer's minutes being restricted due to injury concerns, this has meant that Enzo has pushed on into the number 10 position and now has a lot more freedom to attack and is much more of a goal threat with him having already bagged 3 goals so far, which is half of his tally for all last season. Chelsea will be facing off against a Nottingham Forest side who are under huge pressure following the recent sacking of Nuno Santo and the shaky start of new manager Ange Postecoglu. Additionally, with Chelsea being the 3rd highest scoring team in the league and Joao Pedro lacking goals at the minutes, it is likely for Enzo t need to step up for the blues. Enzo currently has a yellow warning sign with a 75% chance of playing, but even if he does not play, he is a solid choice for his next few fixtures. 🔵

Mohammed Salah has had a rough start to the season for Liverpool, with only 4 g/a in his opening 7 matches. For any ordinary player this would be considered a strong output but with Salah arguably having the greatest premier league season of all time last year and with him costing £14.4m, the need to improve is there. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going out and purchasing Salah as it is rather hard to squeeze both Mo and Haaland into one team and Haaland is a must have right now with his current form. However, if you are a Salah owner, I recommend retaining faith in him as if he is going to kickstart his season in any fixture, it is definitely against Manchester United in a bouncing Anfield stadium. Salah also had a very successful International break with most notably a 2 goal haul against Dijbouti in a 3-0 victory.🔴

My last player suggestion for this week is a rogue one in Santiago Bueno from Wolves. It is tough to overlook the fact that Wolves are yet to pick up a win this season, however, with 2 draws in their last 2 games against relatively tough oppositions I think they could pick up some momentum. With their next 2 games being against newly promoted teams my hopes are high. Santiago is a huge set piece threat, coming in at 6ft 3 and having already scored a close range strike vs Tottenham there is the chance of a good return in gameweek 8. With only a 0.1% ownership and a price tag of £4.4m, he is definitely worth the small gamble.🟡

Going into this week I have made very minimum changes to my team. I simply used my one available free transfer to replace Xavi Simons with his teammate Mohammed Kudus. This is how it looks:

A look into my FPL so far - International Break Special

⚽My Fantasy Journey So Far⚽

With there being no Premier League fixtures this week due to the International break, I will not be providing any tips as of yet, but instead providing a segment on my team's status. With 7 gameweeks having been played, I find myself currently sitting at 695,914th place in the world and 5346th in Northern Ireland. Out of the 7 game weeks, I have finished above the average points tally 4/7 times, although I have already used the triple captain, wildcard and free hit chips which I won't be able to use again until after gameweek 19, putting me at a in a disadvantageous position to those managers who are yet to use as many chips.

My Current Team

Top Performers so Far

Erling Haaland has scored in all but one of his Premier League games so far, racking up a total of 9 goals along with 1 assist. Despite being worth £14.5m he has been every bit worth it as he has been averaging 10 points per gameweek to start off the season. He is without a doubt my clear captain choice and it is very likely that his output will remain at this level throughout the entire season🔵

Antoine Semenyo has definitely been the breakthrough star of the season so far for Bournemouth having 9 goals and assists which is already half of what he achieved throughout all last season. After transferring him in for gameweek 4 he has already bagged 2 double figure hauls and overall he just looks like a man on a mission thus far 🍒

Biggest Transfer Mistakes

Mohammed Kudus hit the ground running to start the season with Spurs, however, with the addition of Xavi Simons to the squad I thought his minutes would take a hit and so made the swap. Since then, he has continued to perform and has played 80+ minutes in every game so far. With him now seeming like Tottenham's main man I've had to use another transfer to bring him back in⚪

I brought in Gabriel during my free hit in week 4 and following his 9 point performance I should have chose to transfer him in permanently especially since Arsenal undoubtedly have the best defence in the league, with Gabriel being the heart and soul of their backline and also a huge aerial presence. Since deciding against retaining him, he has averaged a league high 8 points per gameweek🔴⚪

Biggest Underachievers

Florian Wirtz began the season costing £8.5m and has already dropped to £8.1m and has really struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League so far. Coming in as a playmaker for the team who scored the most goals in the league last year, I expected big things and he simply hasn't lived up to his massive summer price tag and so he was transferred out following the 3rd gameweek🔴

Ollie Watkins scored 16 goals last season in the league but to begin this season he has been very subpar. Playing in a Villa team who have been struggling massively for goals is a bit of a worry especially with a tough run of fixtures coming up. Despite blanking all but once, I believe the England striker will find his feet eventually and for that reason I'm taking the risk of keeping him in my line-up🟣
